Wheel-thrown, heart-made – Carson City’s home for functional pottery
Where clay becomes keepsakes and community
Nestled in the heart of Carson City, Nevada, Gloria’s Pottery Barn is a working studio where the quiet magic of handmade ceramics takes shape every day. Each piece begins right here—wheel-thrown or thoughtfully hand-built—with a focus on creating pottery that feels as good in your hands as it looks in your home.
The studio’s collection includes one-of-a-kind mugs, dinnerware, serving bowls that make even weeknight meals feel special, pour-over drippers, yarn bowls, planters, vases, and those small bud vases that turn a single stem into something meaningful. While there isn’t a traditional shop display, visitors are welcome to stop by. With a little time and conversation, it’s easy to sift through finished pieces together and find something that fits a gift, a home, or a moment.
All ceramics are fired on-site using food-safe, durable glazes designed to stand up to the dishwasher, microwave, and the beautiful unpredictability of everyday life.
Private Studio Wheel Time
Gloria’s offers a personal creative retreat for potters in Carson City and beyond. The studio’s single-wheel workspace is booked by appointment, giving each guest complete privacy. There’s no shared studio time—just peaceful hours to work at your own pace, with your own music or the comfort of quiet. Because the space is fully dedicated to one maker at a time, pricing reflects the calm, uninterrupted experience it provides.
Kiln Share Program
For those who already create at home or elsewhere, the Kiln Share program offers reliable access to firing. The studio’s kilns run often, and depending on the load, pieces can sometimes be fired the same day or shortly after drop-off. This option is especially helpful for makers who need timely turnarounds without the stress of managing their own firing schedule.
Visit, create, or explore
Guests are welcome to throw, glaze, or simply come by to select a finished piece made with intention. Every item carries its own story, ready to become part of yours.
A portion of every purchase gives back.
Ten percent of all earnings is donated to cancer research in honor of Gloria, whose name and spirit continue to guide the studio.

Our Services
If you’ve ever imagined a piece, you wished existed, something meaningful, useful, or uniquely yours — I’d love to bring it to life. Custom work is one of my favorite parts of the studio, because it lets me take someone’s idea and shape it into something real. I’ve created everything from pieces for distributors to one-of-a-kind resting places for loved ones, and even book-end planters that blend sculpture with function. What have you been dreaming of? Whether it’s a gift, a keepsake, or something you’ve never seen in a store, I’m here to help you create it.
For Cone 04 bisque firing, the cost is a flat $20 for each firing plus $1 per piece loaded into the kiln. This keeps pricing simple while covering the wear on the shelves and the energy used for the cycle. If you’re ever unsure how many pieces to include or how to place them, just ask — we’re always happy to help.
For Cone 6 glaze firing, we keep the pricing just as simple. The cost is a flat $25 for each firing plus $1 per piece that goes into the kiln. Cone 6 brings the clay to full maturity and melts the glaze into its finished surface, so it’s the stage where both heatwork and careful loading really matter. If you ever want help choosing glazes or figuring out how your pieces will behave at this temperature, feel free to ask — we’re glad to talk through it with you.
There is a $15 charge for shelf cleaning.
